Heuvelton was first known as Fordsburgh in 1802, named after Nathan Ford

Around 1820 the name was changed to Heuvel after Van Heuvel who settled there.

The Village of Heuvelton was Incorporated on December 30th, 1912

The Village of Heuvelton is located in St. Lawrence County on the Oswegatchie River,

approximately 7 miles from the St. Lawrence River and Canadian Border
